"El Clasico" in La Liga

Last sunday Spain and the world witnessed one of the worlds most intense football matches, 'El Clasico' between barcelona and real madrid. This game is intense before, while and after the match; before the match everyone talks about its opponent and the media is always looking to make a big deal out of anybodys comments. During the game, the fans and the players are very concentrated, the players fight every ball as if it was their life and fans celebrate every play and put their heads down for the downfalls of their team. After the game everyone not only goes to the winner but they also want to see what the looser has to say about it.
This past game and all were just like the others everything I described happened except this time something very intresting happened during one of the goals Ronaldinho scored, the madrid fans stood up and clapped after the goal and who wouln't it was litterally a work of art. This kind of thing happens very rarely but it had previously happen to a past derby, when maradona still played for barcelona he also score a wonderful goal, and the fans stood up and clapped for him. Good for Ronaldinho, he is showing the world that he is a great plyayer and maybe even compared to maradona. As far as the match went, Barcelona won with two goals from Ronaldinho and one from Eto'.

A New Star is Beginning to Shine!

His name is Giovani Dos Santos and no, he is not Brazilian he is 100% Mexican, as he has said it. His father is Brazilian and his mother Mexican but he was born in Mexico and he is very proud of it. He plays for the Barcelona 'B' team and just resently shwoed himself to the world appearing with the Mexican U17 National Team at the world cup in Peru which with a tremendous performance by Giovani and his team mates Mexico won. Mexico started suffering in the play-offs tieing Costa Rica in the last minute of the game and then running over them in over-time. Later in the semi-final they made it seem easy defeating a soccer powerhouse Netherlands whom they beat 4 to 0. In the final again Mexico showed a terrific performance defeating Brazil 3 to 0.
Yeah you got that righ they defeated the 3 times champion at the U17 level, and they didnt just defeat them they made it look easy. Giovani Dos Santos was named the second best soccer player just below Brazilian Anderson who got the 'golden ball'. After this tournament Giovani created great expectations not just in Mexico where some people already want him in the Professional Select team, but he also got attention at his club team where he is being compared to Ronaldinho, who plays in the Professional Team. I think he does look like him but he should not be compared to him he is a different person and he should be different.

FIFA rankings

What do you think about FIFA rankings? personally I do not think they are very accurate, there are some teams that I think should be on top and are not and there are also teams that I do not think should be on top but are. I think most South American teams should be on the top 20's along with European teams, and then all the other tams. http://www.fifa.com/es/mens/statistics/index/0,2548,All-Apr-2005,00.html here is a link to the rankings, take a look and tell me what you think about them.

Beach Football World Cup.

For the firts time in history the Beach Football World cup took place. It is being held right now in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With 12 teams:Brazil, Argentina, France, USA, Thailand, Spain, Ucrain, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Portugal and Uruguay. The strong teams will always be Brazil and Argentina, then Spain and France. The group round is about to end today. My prediction is that Brazil will take it all the way.

Controversial celebrations after scoring a goal.

How bout Chastain after winning the womens world cup with the U.S.; when she took off her shirt and showed everyone her sports bra. Or Mexian player: Blanco; after scoring a penalty kick went in the goal box and acted like a dog doing its business. Maradona was always controversial, specially that time with his team mate Caniga. I would not even talk about it.

Update on Maradona

Most of you guys know Diego Armando Maradona, the great Argentine soccer player who won a world cup with Argentina and is considered the best soccer player of the world ever by many. He had a problem with drugs and has been in the hospital many times for his addiction. He also has a problem with obesity and last month went to Colombia to get surgery to loose some weight, he lost about 20 lbs. And now he is in Spain to visit friends in the teams Real Madrid and Barcelona. Back in Argentina Boca Juniors offered him a possition of coach for the reserve team but apperently he is not intrested in that he said he prefers a to be the coach for the firt division team or he would not be a coach.

Play-offs in Mexico

The Mexican Football is about to end. The regular season ended this week, with 8 teams qualified for the play-offs. Cruz Azul, America, Santos, Tecos, Tigres, Necaxa, Morelia and Monterey. Cruz Azul finished in first place in the table so they will have home field advantage in all of the play-off games. It is hard to predict who will win though; teams that have finished first in the past have never won the championship. America and Necaxa both finished well defeating their opponents in the last week of the regular season and scoring five goals on them. It seems that it will be an exiting tournament we'll see what happenes.

European Football League's Champions are

In Spain, Barcelona has a six point advantage over Real Madrid, their closest adversary, Barcelona needs 3 more points and they'll be champions of "La Liga".
In Italy Juventus this weekend untied with A.C. Milan and became the leader and possibly the champion of "El Calccio". In France Lyon, for the 4rt consecutive year became champion this pas week-end, it seems that they will not be champions next year though, because their coach got tired of winning and resigned his possition. In England Chealsea conquered the championship two weeks ago, they have been the leader all year long and finally they are champions of "English Premier Football League".

Chivas USA

The new MLS team Chivas USA is making history; this team is formed by mostly mexican players and will try to make history in their first season in the MLS. This team is co-owned by Mexican entrepenour Jorge Bergara and Californian entrepenour Antonio Que. With the addition of this team to the MLS they are trying to target the Mexican soccer crowd, and I believe they will be successful. As a Mexican I will be following this team and I am sure many more Mexicans and Hispanics in general will as well.
What do you think about Chivas???

How to chest the ball down.

This skill takes a lot of practice, but seeing it be done, and reading how to do it will help you. The ball is coming to you, first calculate the distance of the ball(to do this you need lots of practice) when the ball hits your chest you push it up with your chest, this gives the ball an effect that favors control. Like I said though you need lots of practice, to calculate the speed and when it will get to you. When you first start dont be surprised to get hit on your face or neck.

How to shoot the ball

To stop your shots from going on top of the goal, do not swing your leg all the way up, swing and then pull it back as soon as it hits the ball.

Who thinks professor Sova ever played soccer??

I think so
